As we write this, we are currently open and it is almost business as usual. The fires are roaring, the beer is cold and the staff are smiling. We take our position in the community very seriously, so we will try to adapt to this challenging situation. Over the last couple of days we have been discussing how we can adapt and these are some of things that you can expect…..

Join us in bringing back a long-forgotten Gwaelod tradition. Come along and help us to create an illuminated procession of lanterns from Gwaelod School up the road to the Pub, where we will join the Melingriffith Brass Band for some festive favourites and there may even be an appearance from Father Christmas himself!
Below are a few links to give you some inspiration to make your own lantern. We do have some pre-made ones here if you’re struggling for time, pop in and pick one up or just bring a torch. We also have some LED lights if you need one. There will be a prize-giving and free mulled wine or hot chocolate for everyone who takes part.
Meet at the school at 17:15, the parade will commence at 17:30.
Let’s re-create this lovely tradition and give Gwaelod a Glow-up 🏮🪅🎏🏮

We are pleased to announce that our charity for this year's festival are the Cardiff Samaritans
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.
They are there, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
They give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And they encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
They offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
That’s why they work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.
QR codes linked directly to their fundraising page will be on all the festival programs and dotted around the site and £1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the charity.
This year’s special cider has just landed!!
Get it only at the Sausage and Cider Festival in September.
If you know you know!
This will be one of 30 different ciders available this year. Obviously you don’t have to drink cider and we will have plenty of other choices.

Calling all local gardeners!!
The ‘Veggies for Bevvies’ scheme is back up and running. This scheme encourages you to swap your surplus homegrown fruit or vegetables for beer! (or any other beverage). We will then make use of your lovely, seasonal produce and put it on our menu.
With the continued rising costs of fruit and vegetables and our passion to be more sustainable as a business, we think that this scheme will be the ideal way to combat the escalating prices, the use of unnecessary packaging and of course food miles.
It’s simple for you to swap your produce, just give us a quick call and tell us what you have and we’ll arrange a time for you to pop by and we will weigh it and give you a voucher to spend behind the bar.
@everyone
Terms and conditions can be viewed on our website.
