We’re looking for generous donations of prizes to make this event even more exciting for everyone involved! First of all…

We have also added a couple of new Welsh products to the bar… Siddiqui White Rum from Penderyn Distillery, Jin Môr from Halen Mon, Afallôn Môn (Blueberry & Elderflower Gin) and Crafty Devil’s new release, Everyday I Wake Up.
A couple of Six Nations rugby games left that will culminate on 15th with Super Saturday.

Our first wine and dinner night of the year takes place on the 27th with the kitchen team and Fine Wines Direct taking us on a tour around France.

Cwtch Baby Bank
Another Taff's Well Charity, Cwtch Baby Bank provides essential equipment, clothing and toiletries for newborn to 24 month old babies through referrals from social care, health professionals and other relevant support agencies and all the donations received go directly to the people who need it.
Gwaelod y Garth Defibrillator Fund
We have raised enough money to pay for the phone box defibrillator but will continue to raise money to provide on-going training and maintenance.
Ysgol Gynradd Gwaelod y Garth Primary School P.T.A.
The school is such an integral part of our community here in the village and has a very busy and supportive Parent Teacher Association, who throughout the year organise lots of events and activities for the children and parents, raising funds to cover the cost of anything from teaching and learning resources, to yard equipment and School Trophies.

We have made what we feel is the right decision to cancel the Lantern Walk from the school tonight. The forecast at 5.30pm looks like torrential rain and that combined with it being dark and the paper lanterns getting a soaking we believe it’s the right thing to do. We would like to invite you to still come to the pub with your lanterns to enjoy the brass band, mulled wine, hot chocolate and Father Christmas!

Come along and help us to create an illuminated procession of lanterns from Gwaelod School up the road to the Pub, where we will join the Melingriffith Brass Band for some festive favourites and there may even be an appearance from Father Christmas himself!

The Christmas Quiz is on the 12th where you can expect some crazy challenges, rubbish prizes and our famous 12 Days of Christmas!
Who doesn’t love a free pint?? On the 14th we are relaunching our own cask ale ‘Strange Lights Over The Garth’ and you can pick up a loyalty card to earn yourself some free beer.
On Wednesday the 18th we are bringing back an old Gwaelod tradition with a Christmas Lantern Walk through the village, finishing at the pub where we can enjoy music from the Melingriffith Brass Band and a visit from Father Christmas. More details will follow tomorrow.
The Taff's Well Community Singers will be hosting our annual carol service at 7.30pm on Thursday 19th. You’ve got to love a Christmas sing song around the fire.

Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.
They are there, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.
They give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And they encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.
They offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.
In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
That’s why they work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

• You would have the ability to handle prep lists and busy services

• You would be expected to work with other members of the Team to deliver a consistently fantastic product and to uphold and build upon our current reputation.

The ‘Veggies for Bevvies’ scheme is back up and running. This scheme encourages you to swap your surplus homegrown fruit or vegetables for beer! (or any other beverage). We will then make use of your lovely, seasonal produce and put it on our menu.
With the continued rising costs of fruit and vegetables and our passion to be more sustainable as a business, we think that this scheme will be the ideal way to combat the escalating prices, the use of unnecessary packaging and of course food miles.

May kicks off with our annual Beer & Burger Festiv-Ale, loads of fantastic craft and cask ales on tap all week. On Thursday 2nd we will be presented with the Cardiff CAMRA Pub of the Year Award. The Festival will climax on Sunday 5th with burgers from 1pm and loads of music from 2.30pm.
There'll be more live music on Saturday 18th from 2pm with The Folk Club Band.
On Wednesday 22nd our first ever Grape vs Grain event will take place in the dining room. Five courses with a wine and beer pairing. Which will come out on top? More details to follow.

Our first festival of the year is just around the corner!
Last year’s was an absolute belter. We ran out of burgers (3 times) We ran out of beer (which meant we couldn’t open on the Monday) and weather and music was awesome.

Quiz Night is back and with Rob being away, Richard Osman has stepped in to host the evening.
We have a special screening of ‘Debbie does Dallas’ at The Popcorn and Pints Cinema Club and we round off the month with a unique Wine and Dinner evening with guest chef Gordon Ramsey
